Our Club was established in 1882, and has played cricket continuously since that date. We are among the oldest cricket clubs in London, and have enjoyed long standing relationships with all the top cricket clubs in the area. We are a founder member of the Middlesex County Cricket League, in 1972.
Two years after formation, we moved to the East Acton Lane ground which was our home for the next 120 years. During that time, in addition to cricket, we have had very successful Bowls, Tennis and Netball sections.
In 1998, due to a change of Landlord, we began negotiating a phased move ‘next door’ to the current location on Bromyard Avenue. Through the very generous support of Virgin Active, which included the laying down of what was then the first brand new cricket ground in a London Borough since World War II, this move was completed and we began playing on the new ground in 2004. Sadly, the move could not accommodate the Bowls section, which had to close.
We run 3 adult teams in the Middlesex League on Saturdays, and a 4th XI in the 1987 Cricket League, as well as a Sunday XI playing a mixture of League matches and friendlies. Our juniors (Colts) section is thriving as never before, with 5 age groups up to under 15’s.
We are one of the few remaining cricket clubs to run a full 5-day cricket week, at the end of July each year.
We are ECB ‘Clubmark’ accredited.
We also run a junior football section, SB United FC, with 3 age groups up to under 16’s, and competing in the West Middlesex and Hayes, and Harrow, youth football Leagues.
Through all its years, the Club has enjoyed an outstanding reputation for its welcome to new members of all abilities, and hospitality to visitors. These values, in addition to competitiveness on the field, are at the core of our success and longevity.
